Post-Race Bash Volunteers
We are delighted to have you on the team. Your commitment makes this event a success. Below, you will find answers to your most pressing questions as race day approaches.
• What are my responsibilities and what will I be doing?
Your number one responsibility as a Post-Race Bash (PRB) volunteer is to make sure the runners and their friends/family are enjoying themselves! However, there are different responsibilities for each PRB volunteer depending on your position within the Sunken Garden. Volunteer duties for the PRB include, but are not limited to, answering race-related questions for runners and their friends/family, providing food/water to runners and assisting as needed in the Sunken Garden. Light to moderate lifting may be required.
• Do I have to bring anything?
You will receive your free volunteer t-shirt when you check-in on race day, but please bring or wear another t-shirt to change into after your shift ends. Do not bring cameras or other valuables with you to your assignment. Run for the Dream is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
• What should I wear and what happens if it rains?
Please dress casually and comfortably. You may want to dress in layers, as it is typically cooler in the morning and warmer in the afternoon. Wear comfortable shoes. Please make sure you dress appropriately in the event of inclement weather. We will make every effort to continue the race activities as planned and that will include the Post Race Bash activities.
• Where do I park?
Please park at the William & Mary Parking Garage located on Kingston. Your parking pass can be downloaded here
• Do I check in with anyone?
When you exit the parking garage, you will find the volunteer check-in station. Please check-in here and you will receive walking directions to the PRB location. Once you arrive at the PRB, please check-in again at the Information tent. You will receive further instruction concerning your responsibilities at the Info tent.
• What do I get for my efforts?
As a volunteer, you will receive quite a few benefits including: 1) Even if you are not running, you can still be a part of the fun! 2) A free Volunteer T-Shirt and commemorative challenge coin! 3) You get the satisfaction of helping others! 4) You’ll have a great time and meet new friends!
• When am I done?
The two shift times for the PRB are as follows:
Saturday, 7:00am – 1:00pm
Sunday, 7:00am – 2:00pm
**Lunch will be provided for all volunteers.
• Can I bring a friend?
While we certainly don’t discourage additional helpers, it is important for all of our volunteers to register online (www.runforachievabledream.com/volunteers) prior to the event. If your friend(s) has not registered as a volunteer prior to the event, please do not bring him/her.
• Can I bring my kids?
Please do not bring children with you as we cannot be responsible for them, they will interfere with you carrying out your responsibilities, and they will be prohibited from entering secured areas.
• What do I do if there is a problem?
If at any time during your assignment you have a problem, please notify me immediately.
